24h Tremblant Event

24h 2011 2021 180x180 24h Tremblant EventThis years 24h ski event for Charles Bruneau has recieved over $1,800 000.00 in donations.  This is defineately something the resort can be proud of.   This event always brings tons of people to Tremblant and usually kick starts the season.

For me personally, I have been to every 24h event so far and if I am not working during the event or just there for support, I love being part of it.   This year the media coverage was impressive, I was surprised how beefed up it was in comparison to the previous years.   For the first time they decided to stream the event live which I happen to watch at my condo when I had enough of the cold.

Second Week-end of Snow

snowfall 0191 180x180 Second Week end of SnowThis week-end was the second week that Mont Tremblant has been open.  We had a few rough patches as the hill opened last Thursday but after a hot spell we lost all the snow.  This week-end was gorgeous. Friday was snowing all day and Saturday was sunny and the snow jets were

Halloween Week-end

halloween 2011 0211 180x180 Halloween Week endWhat a gorgeous week-end for trick or treating, the weather was perfect and the resort was packed with tons of families for Halloween.  The merchants on the resort open their doors every year for trick or treaters,  mostly locals but there are some families that will come up for the week-end especially this year as it fell on a Sunday.  I would say that the numbers doubled in comparison to last year and I am assuming that the sunny weather had a lot to do with it.  I am not sure if last year they had the 50% sale on at the same time but that was a bonus for sure.  I ended up mixing a shopping day with walking around with my nephew, Mr.Pumpkin for some free candy.

On Monday which was the actual day for Halloween the trick or treaters end up doing the rounds in the town of St. Jovite where the same concept applies, merchants open their doors and hand out candy to everyone.  I took a few

Indian Summer

leaves 022 copy1 180x180 Indian SummerTremblant has been having  an Indian Summer, the weather has been in the low 20 degrees with plenty of  sun.  The air smells good, the leaves are changing colors and to be honest its my favourite season.

I decided to take my lunch break at the top of the Sommet, which  never happens but it made all the difference.  I hadn’t been up

Boogie Wonder Band

boogiewonerband 0352 180x180 Boogie Wonder Band

Boogie Wonder Band was in Tremblant this past Saturday night and my girlfriends had the night scheduled for some dancing, so it was obvious where we were headed. I’ve heard of Boogie Wonder Band because they’ve been to Tremblant before but I hadn’t seen them yet, so we started the night with dinner and drinks at La Diable before we made it up to the Plaza.

The show started at nine and I had no idea what to expect, but when we got to the show it was jammed packed and the party was already in full swing. I tried to squeeze my way in through the crowd and everyone was so happy, dancing and totally loving the music. The resort did a great job bringing these guys in because they

The Real Ironman

resize 180x180 The Real IronmanMeet the real Canadian IronMan

Today while eating at my favorite casse-croute in Mont Tremblant,  I noticed a unique individual pull up on his tricycle to buy a hot dog.
He soon come over to ask directions due to his bad eye site, and to our surprise he was asking how to get to Halifax!

We inquired as to where he came from and he said Clearwater B.C., what!?

Tremblant Turtle

Turtle thumb1 180x180 Tremblant Turtle I was driving my car on Chemin du Lac Mercier going to visit a property when I saw this huge turtle on the side of the road.

The weather this week has been incredible and really warm and this thing was just sitting there in the sun right on the street.  I passed it going pretty fast when I slammed on the breaks just to make sure I was seeing correctly.

Two cool events this last week, the 2011 Canada Cup downhill mountain bike race in Mont Tremblant  and the Whitewater Grand Prix in the surrounding Laurentian area.

The Whitewater Grand Prix brought 25 of the best kayakers from around the world to compete in a multi event format , the video speaks for itself, it is damn amazing.

Whitewater kayaking around Tremblant

n612806412 697169 6635 180x180 Whitewater kayaking around TremblantSpring is here, the rivers are full and the rapids are big!   The Tremblant region is a great place for all levels of whitewater kayaking throughout the spring and summer.  During the first few weeks of spring the snow melt and rain provide a lot of opportunities for more advanced paddlers, the Laurentian area has plenty of world class steep creeks and rivers. As the spring runoff dissipates the rivers become more friendly and available to intermediate and beginner boaters.
