I came home from a long day at work and right away decided to go for a walk in the rain.  I felt I needed to breath in the fresh air.  There had been  loud thunder and some lightning a little earlier on but it seemed safe at this point. I could see the clouds clearing up.

The weather has been great lately and its hard to imagine there was a snow storm of 20 cm a few weeks ago followed by some 28 degree weather.  The trees are quickly busting out

I finally had the opportunity to have an overnight getaway to Toronto with Porter Airlines for a mini business trip.  I had been to the Airport La Macaza in Tremblant but had not actually flown out from that destination.   I had heard only good things about it and it ended up being as convenient as I had been told.  My two co workers and good friends from the Scandinave Spa were joining me for an over night stay as well. It was a quick in and out but I thought it would be nice to fly down and have some Indian Cuisine before heading back to Tremblant ,were Indian curry is  scarce unless you are making it yourself.

The drive from the Resort to the airport was fairly quick, 30 minutes on the back roads behind Lac Mercier ends up being the fastest way.  The airport itself is like being in someone’s big log cabin house.  A huge fireplace sits in the middle of it all with dream catchers hanging from the wood beam posts

All summer long we are blessed with the fabulous local summer market located in the old village.  This year they decided to treat us to a Christmas Market (Marché des Fêtes) at City Hall in St.Jovite. Its a one day only deal but I’ll take it!  If only they did this every week-end all year round, it would be so great.

As usual you can find all the local artisans and suppliers that we see during the summer months.

I was delighted to meet Ariane Lavigne through the Spa Scandinave as she is one of their official ambassadors. She is an athlete and nutritionist who snowboards on the Canadian National Team.  She holds the Canadian Champion title in Slalom and  her goal is to get to the 2014 Olympics in Russia.

She loves the Scandinave Spa in Mont Tremblant  and I see her quite often getting the much needed spa and massage treatments. Aside from understanding the importance of a good balanced diet, recuperating after a work out is important too!

Today was the 6th edition of the A Toi Lola event.  This event is held every year at the Domaine St. Bernard and it’s for women of all ages who wish to attain a personal goal created just for them.  You can be someone fit and athletic or someone who isn’t as active and still participate. The main purpose is to encourage the education and physical activity for girls. It’s always a great day where you can expect to see lots of familiar faces getting fit together.

This year in particular, it was great to see how big the event has become.  As always a lot of the husbands and boyfriends cheer from the sidelines.

There is definately not a lack of marathons this year in Tremblant. Everywhere you look, you either see someone running or someone cycling. With the half Ironman a few weeks ago, the Demi-Marathon Sunday and the Ironman next Sunday it seems like everyone has Olympic fever!
It was the 3rd Edition of the Mont-Tremblant Half-Marathon on Sunday and more than 2000 participants showed up. Different age categories including parent-child category and a corporate group challenge. There was also a 1km run for kids 12 years and under.  The event includes a

Local high quality products from all corners of the Laurentians mixed with local farmers come to showcase their fantastic organic produce.  Tremblant has an incredible market located in the old village, a real treat every Saturday during the summer it’s open 9am to 1pm from July 3rd to September 4th.

If I am unable to attend, I will make sure someone is able to pick up my usual order of smoke salmon, bagels and baklava for the week.  The ribs are a big favourite for my Mom
